My 5 Favorite… Cookbooks!

I’m starting a new section on the blog called “My 5 Favorite…” where I can share some of my favorite things, from cook books, to kitchen tools, natural beauty products I’ve tested, restaurants, cities, recipes & more.

First up? Cookbooks!

Do you love to cook plant-based meals? Need new cook books to flip through and dog-ear? Here are my 5 favorite vegan cook books and my favorite recipe from each one. These are in no particular order.

1.) Veganomican by Isa Chandra Moskowitz & Terry Hope Romero

Favorite Recipe: Chili Cornmeal Crusted Tofu Po’ Boy – this is a delicious, delicious sandwich that is a little time-consuming, but you will not regret making it one bit 🙂

2.) Crazy Sexy Kitchen by Kris Carr

Favorite Recipe: Crazy Sexy Bean Chili. Perfect for a cool winter evening. Make a batch of corn bread and sprinkle some Daiya cheddar shreds on top. Mmmm…

3.) Beauty Detox Foods by Kimberly Snyder

Favorite Recipe: Raw Taco Gorilla Wrap – I first had these at Kimberly’s smoothie shop Glo Bio and thought to myself “there’s no way this is raw/vegan!” So I went home and made her recipe myself. Yep. They’re really that good.

4.) Choosing Raw by Gena Hamshaw

Favorite Recipe: Nori Rolls With Gingery Almond Pate And Raw Vegetables. It’s like an Asian-infused raw vegan dream- the nut pate has a lovely aroma, paired with veggies and it’s perfection. I sometimes don’t cut the rolls and eat them as wraps.

5.) CLEAN Food by Terry Walters

Favorite Recipe: Sesame Brussels Sprout Saute. We LOVE brussels sprouts in our household, and this is yet another amazing way to cook them. Very flavorful, it makes a perfect side dish.

Love, love, love Veganomicon! Isa is the best 🙂

I found How It All Vegan by Sarah Kramer & Tanya Barnard really useful when I was starting out with vegan food. It is a little dated now, perhaps, but is a nice, simple cookbook that covers many of the basics well.

I haven’t read any of these books. Thank you for the list. The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Gluten-Free Vegan Cooking is an awesome book with amazing recipes. I love their multi-grain bread recipe.

      Hi Laura!

Thank you for the book recommendation, I’ve recently switched to mostly gluten-free so I’ll have to check it out. These books are great, and all have gluten-free options or are entirely gluten-free. Hope you have a lovely weekend!
