I love to travel – I try to leave the country once a year to experience a new culture and see the world (but not too often so I can keep my carbon footprint down 😉 ) Throughout the years, I’ve been all over, from small islands around the Caribbean to Central America, Europe and Africa. Every time I travel somewhere new, I pick up new tips to make my life easier on the next trip and with the holidays coming up, I figured there was no better time to share them in a blog post. So from a self-proclaimed travel junkie- here are my 14 travel essentials that keep me sane and healthy when I’m on the go.
I haven’t posted much in a few weeks due to traveling first to NYC to work for 10 days and now I’m on vacation in Europe (currently in Ireland visiting small towns across the country for 5 nights and then heading to Paris on Wednesday.) The food on these trips has been so inspiring and I’m constantly jotting down recipe ideas and things I want to write about when I return.
Today was my first time brunching at Real Food Daily. The verdict? Amazing. We both got “the weekender”, mine with the French Toast and my boyfriend with the gluten-free pancakes (made with almond flour).
Urth Caffe has the best organic coffee and tea drinks I’ve ever had (in the United States that is… I once made my own coffee at a plantation in the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro and THAT was the best coffee ever…) Pictured is a vanilla latte with almond milk. If you ever go there, another beverage to try is the African Red Rooibos Tea Latte with almond milk. It’s absolutely delicious.
Yesterday me and my boyfriend stopped by Glo Bio in West Hollywood for our first time. I was so excited when Kimberly Snyder was actually there and we had a chance to talk to her and her fiance for a little while (they are so nice and down to earth).
The holidays are full of love, joy and great food. If you don’t eat meat, you don’t have to go without a ‘turkey’. And if you do eat meat, feel free to give one of these delicious alternatives a try (or if you have plant-based pals, serve one up alongside your meal!) My favorite turkey-alternative is…
